Who Needs American Idol?
Here Are Thirteen One Hit Wonders that I Actually Like Listening To!
Notice they are one HIT wonders - not "one-song-ever-recorded"wonders! Sure, some of them had other songs, but these were classified "hits" by Billboard Magazine during the eras when they were most popular.
1. Rapper’s Delight by Sugarhill Gang 1980 *
2. Funkytown by Lipps, Inc. 1980 *
3. Tainted Love by Soft Cell 1982 *

All the other videos were just absolutely too weird to post here!
4. Hooked on a Feeling by Blue Swede 1974 *
5. Kung Fu Fighting by Carl Douglas 1974 *
6. Convoy by C. W. McCall 1975 *
7. Smokin in the Boys Room by Brownsville Station 1973 *
8. True by Spandau Ballet 1983 *
9. Hot Child in the City by Nick Gilder 1978 *
10. Lovefool by The Cardigans 1996 *
11. Afternoon Delight by Starland Vocal Band 1976 *
12. The Hustle by Van McCoy 1975 *

You got some great songs here, but neither Van McCoy or Sugarhill Gang were one hit wonders. Van McCoy was a prolific songwriter, producers who left a profound body of work by the time of his passing at the age of 39. Noted for being the first rap group to garner national attention, The Sugarhill gang had more than just "Rapper's Delight". Offhand a song entitled "Apache" comes to mind. Again you reminded me of some great songs.
Tainted Love and The Hustle were real classics.
Okay, your list is better than mine.

I loved to listen to C W McCall...but with all his albums he isn't a One Hit Wonder, sorry to say. I like Wolf Creek Pass...of his.
Hope you can drop by to view my T 13....I love visitors y'know. :o)
This post is pure unadulterated evil! ;) Every single one of those songs is a head sticker. GRRRR....
Happy TT!
Wow, some memories there. Listening to The Hustle took me right back to the seventies!
What a great list of classics. Happy T13!
Love your TT. Brought back lots of memories.
I remember all of these! :)
Take on me has perhaps the best video ever.
Happy TT.
Rapper’s Delight by Sugarhill Gang 1980 *- Love it!
Didn't they sing Apache?
Happy TT~
What a great list with some awesome memories:) Happy TT.
thanks for bringing up very happy memories! yours is my favortie TT for the week!
I know of all of these except the first one. I was a shy kid, and No. 11 used to embarrass the heck out of my when I was a kid!
I remember that last video. Really weird. Some of the others I've never heard!
Hapyy TT, my friend!
I can almost dance to Take on Me! Happy TT!
Makes me wonder - if they were 1 hit wonders, but we all recognize the songs, why were they 1 hit wonders? Great list.
Very nice list! I recognize a few of those... Happy TT :)
That was fun i could sing along w/ all of them but 10
Wow!
what great memories these brought back! I STILL listen to tainted love regularly(but by the cure)
This had to be very time consuming to put together Dianne! Great job! :))
I had to ploay rappers delight, its been SOOO long since I've heard it! haha
I will listen to the others later when I have more computer time. :)
Hehehe...some of those made me smile. I played part of one and my husband called me a "hippie." He's a dork! LOL!
I haven't heard A-Ha in forever. Thanks for sharing.
You've picked out some goodies and managed to get some 'controversy' going besides. Love Convoy (my husband was a trucker - we lived for Convoy). lol
I am pretty fond of Hooked on A Felling.
Great list. I actually know more than a few of them. My little sisters had so much fun with "Kung Fu Fighting" and I remember learning "The Hustle" as a teenager. Fun trip down memory lane.
Happy TT!
wow. This took a lot of loading time for you...unless your computer is a lot faster than mine. Neat memories here.
I remember that radio stations played the hell out of "Kung Fu Fighting" when it was first out. It's funny because Carl Douglas' follow up to "Kung Fu Fighting" was called "Dance the Kung Fu". He was bound and determined to milk it for all it was worth.
